About Us
Giles (or ‘Gilo’) who owns and runs the Lodge - home away from home for skiers, boarders, golfers and travelers alike, is an outdoor person who loves skiing, snowboarding, golf and all sporting activities. He is also a people person which is why he has settled in Methven - a refreshingly multi cultural town in the heart of the South Island.
He lived his first 22 years in England, the land of his birth. Then, for several years he worked his way through a great deal of the world: Europe, the Americas, Africa, and on through Asia and Australia and then to New Zealand - his mother’s homeland and the other half of his dual nationality.
Next he spent 14 years working in Japan, first as a ski and snowboard instructor and then for an international shipping company. These experiences have given him a broad understanding of many cultures and in particular an affinity for Japan helped by his fluency in the Japanese language.
Now he has realised his ambition to own a lodge and to be able to ski, play golf and entertain visitors. His aim is to show guests and friends what it is about this wonderful region that has captured his heart.
